BOOKING & RESERVATIONS
Starfire Golf Cart Rental (SGCR) is a Charleston based company started by two neighbors on Folly Beach, SC - neighborhood vehicles made by neighbors. We started SGCR with a single shared goal: to join the vibrant community of Folly Beach businesses dedicated to helping visitors truly feel like locals. Whether you're here for a day or a month, we want you to feel right at home. We offer luxury low-speed vehicles (LSVs), giving you the perfect way to explore Folly Beach with all the comfort and convenience you deserve. We assemble our fleet in Charleston, South Carolina, and stand behind our commitment to quality construction and unmatched customer service. We’re confident that you will enjoy your ride as much as we enjoyed making your LSV.
The minimum age for our rentals is 25. Operators must be at least 16 years old and be in possession of a driver's license and proof of liablity insurance. Multiple operators are allowed as long as these requirements are met for each driver and they are listed on the rental contract.
Currently we only rent our LSVs on Folly Beach, SC. If you wish to rent outside of Folly Beach City limits, please check back with us next year as we expand.
To secure your reservation, a rental fee is collected at time of booking. We accept Visa, Master Card, and Discover. Debit cards are accepted with proof of residence and an initial deposit on the card.
We don't require a deposit to reserve your cart. Just a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and payment at the time of booking, and you're good to go!
You can cancel your reservation up to 10 days before your rental date. Cancellations are subject to a 10% processing fee.
While we want your vacation to be sunny we can’t control the weather. Refunds will only be issued in the event of a named tropical storm or hurricane (www.noaa.gov).
Booking is by the night (similar to your rental home/hotel). We've aligned our delivery and pick-up schedule with the standard check-in/check-out times for rental homes on the island. We will deliver your LSV by 4:00 PM on the first day of the reservation. We do our best to deliver as early as possible while ensuring our LSVs are properly inspected and cleaned between guests. If you would like to request an earlier delivery on the first day of the reservation, please give us a call and we will do our absolute best to accommodate.
Remove any loose debris or trash from the cart, plug it in, place the keys in the back storage compartment, and we will take it from there. We begin picking up carts at 8:00 AM on the last day of your reservation. Please charge your cart to 100% before its return date, we have another family waiting for their ride. If you’d like to use the LSV after 8:00 AM on the last day of your vacation, please add an additional day to the reservation.
LSV OPERATION
All of our carts are low-speed vehicles. LSVs have added safety features, the ability to drive at night, and up to 25mph. LSVs have seatbelts and DOT rated parts similar to your car and can drive on streets with a speed limit posted of 35mph or less. This allows you to drive and park on Center Street during your vacation in Folly Beach, SC.
An LSV is a motor vehicle and held to all standard traffic safety laws. You must wear your seatbelt when driving or riding in a LSV. SC law requires any child under the age of 8 to be properly secured in a booster seat or car seat based on their age and weight. We offer child safety positioners for rent for children who are ≥22lbs.
Our lithium batteries will ride roughly 40 miles on one charge dependent on the number of passengers in your vehicle. Plug in your cart every night and you should have plenty of range to get around the 6 mile long island of Folly Beach. Each cart comes with an extension cord.
